No Guts, No Glory Immersive Birthday Party
AVR Events
Objective:

While working with AVR Events, I led the graphic direction for No Guts, No Glory, a bespoke immersive birthday experience inspired by New Romanticism, punk culture and irreverent 1980s glamour. The opportunity was to turn a highly personal creative brief into a full sensory visual world, using graphic design, art direction and prop-led storytelling to shape the event’s atmosphere from first invite to final venue reveal.

The creative direction drew from Vivienne Westwood’s rebellious prestige, analogue punk graphics and the DIY spirit of 1980s fashion and music culture. I developed a visual language built around collaged textures, letterpress typography, authentic-era news clippings and playful cultural Easter eggs, bridging grit and glamour in a way that felt nostalgic but elevated. Following a stylised photoshoot with the client, I created two hero billboards that became key entrance moments within the experience.

Across save-the-date invitations, menus, large-scale venue graphics, prop details and environmental touchpoints, the project created a cohesive identity that tied the event world together. The final direction brought visual richness, attitude and storytelling to the celebration, with AVR and their client praising the creative work for elevating the atmosphere and making the billboards a standout moment within the experience.

Objective:

To create a bold event identity for AVR Events’ No Guts, No Glory, translating a New Romantic and punk-inspired brief into immersive graphics that brought glamour, rebellion and nostalgia together across the guest experience.
