Grease: The Live Experience Immersive Show Graphics & Worldbuilding
Secret Cinema
While at Secret Cinema, I developed immersive show graphics for Grease: The Live Experience, helping translate the energy, nostalgia and character of the beloved movie musical into a cohesive live audience experience. The opportunity was to extend the world of Rydell High beyond the screen, using graphic systems and environmental detail to support storytelling, setting and guest immersion.
The creative approach balanced recognisable 1950s Americana with the heightened personality of Grease, creating touchpoints that felt both authentic to the era and true to the film’s playful spirit. From school signage and environmental graphics to narrative details, props and guest-facing moments, the work helped build a believable world that audiences could move through, discover and emotionally connect with.
Across art direction, graphic design and environmental storytelling, the project showed how show graphics can shape an immersive experience at every scale. The final work helped transform a familiar film world into a physical environment full of warmth, nostalgia and theatrical energy, supporting a live experience that felt cohesive, characterful and alive.
Objective:
To bring the nostalgic world of Grease into a live immersive experience, using show graphics, environmental detail and guest-facing touchpoints to make Rydell High feel vivid, believable and alive.
