COLIN THE CATERPILLAR & PERCY PIG PARTY BOXES
Marks & Spencer
OBJECTIVE:
To develop a "party-in-a-box" product, composing of tableware, décor, and packaging, for M&S's two major character properties: Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig.
The "Party-in-a-box" concept is a great product which capitalises on convenience and impulse purchasing. Recognising the need to create themed parties easier for their customer, M&S proposed the development of two party boxes representing their two major characters: Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig. The idea was that these party boxes would act as an add-on to the purchase of a Colin or Percy Cake, to help make an easy, totally thematic party experience for the customer and their guests.
Armed with both brand's guidelines, my team and I got to work developing party tableware and decor essentials for the boxes: from plates, cups, and napkins to balloons, bunting and tablecloths. I developed the packaging execution for the boxes, ensuring that the artwork stayed true to the brands while also eliciting the joy and excitement associated with parties. The results were successful, gaining placement in M&S stores across the UK starting in 2021.
